CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins addressed recent comments made by President Donald Trump on Truth Social. The President directed insults at the chief White House correspondent in a post on Saturday. He misspelled her name and described her as stupid and nasty. Trump claimed she asked about the cost of a new ballroom. He stated the facility would be double the size with high quality finishes.

Collins responded to the remarks on Instagram. She posted a screenshot of the Truth Social message. Her caption clarified the topic of her inquiry. She stated that technically her question was about Venezuela. This interaction followed an event on Friday during the FIFA World Cup draw in Washington DC. Collins had asked Trump about a potential FIFA peace prize. She asked if the award might conflict with his pledge regarding Venezuela. Trump answered the question at the time without appearing flustered.

The incident marks another instance of the President criticizing female reporters. Trump recently made negative comments to journalists from Bloomberg and ABC News and The New York Times and CBS News. White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson addressed the situation. Jackson stated that President Trump is never politically correct. She added that the comments have nothing to do with gender. She noted that trust in the media is low. Mary Trump also commented on the situation on her podcast. She suggested the behavior indicates the President is rattled.
